On March 2, 2009, Whitney Young High School took on Marian Catholic High School in the Illinois girls’ basketball supersectional. Nothing about the broadcast went well. The equipment wasn’t working, leading to a lower quality broadcast, my brother, Angelo (also color commentator) showed up having accidentally prepared for the wrong teams and we were actually knocked off air for most of the first quarter. All the problems, though, were forgotten when the game turned out to be one of the most exciting that I have ever seen, capped off by the craziest finish I’ve ever gotten to call. And here is that end to a crazy contest:
